Professor Li Zhongmu Leads Delegation to Visit Ulugh Beg Astronomical Institute in Uzbekistan to Deepen Silk Road Astronomical Cooperation
During the 2nd Silk Road Astronomy Research and Education Alliance (hereinafter referred to as "Silk Road AREA") Conference held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, from May 18 to 22, 2026, Professor Li Zhongmu, Chairman of Silk Road AREA and Dean of the Institute of Astronomy and Information (hereinafter referred to as "IAI") at Dali University, was invited to lead a delegation including Associate Professor Liu Wei, the discipline leader of Astrophysics at IAI, to visit the Ulugh Beg Astronomical Institute.

During the visit, the delegation conducted in-depth discussions with the institute's research team on cutting-edge scientific issues and potential cooperation directions in star cluster research, and reached cooperation consensus on jointly applying for international scientific research projects, sharing observation data and computing resources, establishing an exchange mechanism for young scholars and graduate students, and jointly training high-level talents in the field of astronomy.
This visit is an important academic exchange activity between member units under the Silk Road AREA framework. It has further deepened scientific research collaboration and cultural exchanges between China and Central Asian countries in the astronomical field, expanded the international cooperation network of astronomy discipline at Dali University, and laid a solid foundation for the university to deeply participate in the Belt and Road Initiative and continuously enhance the international influence of the discipline.
